Mexico City will host traveling shows and workshops on oral storytelling with retro-projections aimed at introducing children to literature, theater, and visual arts. Through performance, the initiative seeks to encourage new approaches to educational content.
The team «Historias de Papel» narrates stories by various authors addressing themes such as discrimination, children's rights, child labor and poverty, empathy, personal growth, solidarity, trust, and friendship, as well as the value of emotional connection and respect for diversity. The proposal includes retro-projections inspired by works of visual artists recognized by children, and after the show, a dialogue is opened where artists discuss the presented themes with the children.
The retro-projection format offers a way to tell, paint, and unfold stories in the venue, incorporating languages of cinema, literature, visual arts, and theater so that children can not only enjoy a scenic experience but also learn.
This project will be presented for a short season at the Forum A poco no, on Saturdays and Sundays in April at 1 PM. In «Contando Pintores», with stories and poems, they will paint lakes, bugs, birds, and black holes and have an approach to the works of Van Gogh, Dalí, and Xul Sol. Tickets can be purchased at the forum box office or through the Ticketmaster system.
At the Café Concert «Lo de Inés», next Saturday, April 11, at 9 PM, a tribute to the Argentine singer Mercedes Sosa, known as «La Negra» or «The Voice of Latin America», will take place. For this tribute, a group of artists including singer and musician Ernesto Anaya, multi-instrumentalist in charge of musical direction; Damián Tuso, musician, arranger, master of Argentine tango and folklore; Montserrat Revah, guest percussionist; and María Inés Montilla, singer, author of the original idea and responsible for the script, have prepared a show that will premiere the piece «Con la piel en América». This is a continuation of «Nadie puede para el viento», premiered the previous year as a first tribute to this singer who performed on multiple stages in Mexico.
Through a musical narrative, this show captures the essence of Mercedes Sosa, who, despite exile, always showed her coherence, political commitment, and artistic militancy. The event to enjoy La Negra's repertoire, which describes part of the life of a woman who, despite the physical distance, never stopped feeling and singing for her land, will take place at the forum located in the Argentine restaurant Quebracho, at Hamburgo 313, Col. Juárez, in CDMX.
